The gates of Hell are terrible to behold, are they not?

About This Quote

There are many gates that lead into the underworld. In fact, there is a famous story about a man who was sent to Hell after he was found guilty of stealing. When he arrived there he found that the gate at the entrance to his new home was made of gold and it had many doors, each door made of precious stones. The man asked the gatekeeper how he could leave Hell if he wanted to.

The gatekeeper replied that if you want out, you must open every single door. After having done so for many years, the man finally got up the courage to open one door. He discovered that behind it was only darkness.

That was his first experience of Hell. However, over time, he opened more and more doors. Eventually, one day, he opened another door and saw light.

As he turned around towards where the light should be coming from, however, all that greeted him was fire and screams of agony echoing through the cavern. That was his second experience of Hell. However, after hearing those screams for so long, the man opened yet another door and saw Heaven.

He looked up at God and said “My Lord, I would like to return to Earth because I am tired of this place.” God replied “Do not say such things! You have not seen all there is to see here!” “No Lord; I cannot wait any longer; I am dying!” “So be it!” said God. As soon as God finished speaking, the man died right away because he wasn’t ready to go back into that terrible place.
